Change of energy supplier

In 2018, the German E.ON and the RWE Group made an agreement on a far-reaching exchange of assets and participations. For Hungary, this means that through this transaction, the E.ON Hungária Group has become a sole owner of the ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ Group.

The European Commission approved the transaction and the German E.ON undertook commitments that affect E.ON’s business in Hungary as well. Based on this, the European Commission required the E.ON Hungária Group to sell its power business on the competitive retail market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

Accordingly, as of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft will be providing our services in the wholesale and retail natural gas and the wholesale electricity businesses, in addition to providing energy solutions. E.ON Áramszolgáltató Kft. will be serving our customers in the universal power business. E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to provide services in the competitive retail power business.

The above changes will be implemented by E.ON through a legal transaction (spin-off) that will ensure uninterrupted supply for the affected users by a legal successor.

The change was necessary in order for the E.ON Hungária Group to fulfill the obligation required by the European Commission and to be able to sell its electricity business on the competitive retail market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

For those of our customers who have a contract with us in the wholesale and retail natural gas and the wholesale electricity businesses, as well as those, who use our products related to modernizing public and interior lighting, e-mobility, solar power generation, integrated energy solutions and green future/guarantee of origin, the only change will be that they will have a contract with E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft.

If you have an existing contract with E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft. for the services mentioned above, your contract will be transferred to E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft. after the spin-off by legal succession. Neither the terms and conditions of your contract, nor the quality and terms and conditions of service will change.

E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to be responsible for the competitive retail power business. Your existing electricity contract and its terms and conditions will not change either.

As of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to be responsible for the competitive retail power business.

The date of selling will be determined later.

Not directly on the competitive market. We will inform you about future options later.

We will inform you about future options later. E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft. is currently providing services only in the retail and wholesale natural gas business, the wholesale electricity business, as well as in the sale of energy products and integrated energy services.

No. As your contract will be transferred to the successor, E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft., the validity and terms and conditions of your contract will not change.

  • Competitive retail power business: no change, E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft. will remain your service provider.
