Change of energy supplier

In 2018, the German E.ON and the RWE Group made an agreement on a far-reaching exchange of assets and participations. For Hungary, this means that through this transaction, the E.ON Hungária Group has become a sole owner of the ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ Group.

The European Commission approved the transaction and the German E.ON undertook commitments that affect E.ON’s business in Hungary as well. Based on this, the European Commission required the E.ON Hungária Group to sell its power business on the competitive retail market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

Accordingly, as of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft. will be providing our services in the wholesale and retail natural gas and the wholesale electricity businesses, in addition to providing energy solutions. E.ON Áramszolgáltató Kft. will be serving our customers in the universal power business and will be providing monthly insurance services, E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to provide services in the competitive retail power business.

The above changes will be implemented by E.ON through a legal transaction (spin-off) that will ensure uninterrupted supply for the affected users by a legal successor.

The change was necessary in order for the E.ON Hungária Group to fulfill the obligation required by the European Commission and to be able to sell its electricity business on the competitive retail market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

The only thing that will change for our customers who have a natural gas contract with E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft is that they will have this contract with E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft. If you have an existing contract with E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft, your contract will be transferred to E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft. after the spin-off by legal succession. There will be no change in the quality and the terms and conditions of service.

E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to be responsible for the competitive retail power business. Your existing electricity contract and its terms and conditions will not change.

As of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft., which will be sold, will continue to be responsible for the competitive retail power business.
