Change of energy supplier

In 2018, the German E.ON and the RWE Group made an agreement on a far-reaching exchange of assets and participations. For Hungary, this means that through this transaction, the E.ON Group has become a sole owner in the ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ Group.

The European Commission approved the transaction and the German E.ON undertook commitments that affect E.ON’s business in Hungary as well. Based on this, the European Commission required the E.ON Hungária Group to sell its power business on the competitive retail power market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

Accordingly, as of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft will be providing our services in the wholesale and retail natural gas and the wholesale electricity businesses, in addition to providing energy solutions. E.ON Áramszolgáltató Kft will be serving our customers in the universal power business and will be providing monthly insurance services. E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft, which will be sold, will continue to provide services in the competitive retail power business.

The above changes will be implemented by E.ON through a legal transaction (spin-off) that will ensure uninterrupted supply for the affected users by a legal successor.

The change was necessary in order for the E.ON Hungária Group to fulfill the obligation required by the European Commission and to be able to sell its electricity business on the competitive retail power market, as well as any of its activities closely related to it.

E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft will continue to be responsible for the competitive retail power business. Your existing electricity contract and its terms and conditions will not change. Supply will be uninterrupted, and you do not have to do anything.

Competitive-market electricity retail contracts will not be affected by any changes, regardless of their duration, and our goal is to maintain our long-term partnership for the future.

The date of selling will be determined later.

We will inform you about future options later.

As of May 1, 2020, E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft will be responsible for the competitive retail electricity business, and E.ON Energiamegoldások Kft will be providing our services in the wholesale and retail natural gas and the wholesale electricity businesses, in addition to providing energy solutions.

Temporary restrictions (administration and billing)

In the topic ‘Change of Energy Supplier’, we noted that, as a result of the agreement made by E.ON and RWE on a far-reaching exchange of assets and participations, the E.ON Hungária Group is required to sell its electricity retail business in E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft.

The transaction will be preceded by the spin-off by merger of E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft, as a result of which, as of 1 May 2020, only the electricity retail business will remain with E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft.

This change requires that we implement the changes in the affected IT systems for both E.ON Energiakereskedelmi Kft and the companies affected by the spin-off by merger.

There will be temporary restrictions especially in billing and administration at our Online Customer Service.

Due to the technical settings in the billing system, we will not issue competitive-market energy bills between May 1 and 17, 2020. Therefore, you will receive your bills for the April period in accordance with a schedule other than the usual one, probably one to two weeks later. Because of this, your April and May consumption bills may be due on two days close to each other, within 30 days.

Please make sure to pay your bills received during this period by the deadline in the correct order.

From May 1 to May 17, 2020, we will be available to our customers with restricted administration. During this period, in addition to answering general questions about our competitive-market natural gas services, we will record requests for amending energy contracts (e.g. modification of annual contracted quantities, data clarification), which will be transferred back to our system probably after May 18.

Yes, you will still be able to submit your meter reading at the Online Customer Service during the usual period (between May 1-5, 2020).
